Have the safety of mind of not losing your pets anymore! Protect them against a variety of threats with the Roytex Pet Safety Tracking (PeST) collar.
The collar contains a multimodal position tracking system. A GPS receiver is the foundation, augmented by coarse position tracking via WiFi network identification, mobile phone towers, as well as inertial and magnetic sensor. (In decreasing order of precision — especially the magneto-inertial sensor is more of an estimate and positional data from these sensors will be marked as low-precision data in the control interface.)
The positional data will be transmitted to Roytex servers in regular intervals, allowing the owner to find the collar bearer's current location in case of emergencies. The collar includes a panic button (under a molly guard) that allows the wearer to proactively notify the collar owner of an emergency. This alert can be delivered through any and all of SMS, email, Twitter and most prominently: The PeST control app.
Connectivity to the Roytex servers is multimodal as well. By default, the owner can set up preferred WiFi networks that will be used for communication if they are in reach and have internet connectivity. Outside of their reach, local WiFi networks will be probed for access and used if available. The fallback mode of communication is cellular uplink through a collar's integrated cell phone circuits. With appropriate mobile phone contracts, the collar can relay positional data globally.
The PeST collar has storage to retain positional data for weeks. If, despite all precautions, connection to Roytex servers is lost, the data will be kept in the collar. This could, for example, happen when travelling in mountainous regions, through tunnels, or while inside secure facilities that are shielded from cellular reception and do not offer access to open WiFi networks. Once internet connectivity is restored, the data will be synced with the control server and updated to the latest known position.
It goes without saying that Roytex PeST collars come with anti-tamper systems that will detect attempts to remove the collar and notify the owner immediately to prevent unauthorized parties from tampering with the tracking. Similarly, all communication between collar and control server is encrypted and signed to ensure the collected data is authentic.
Lastly, battery levels are reported in the control interface and the collar emits acoustic alerts to the wearer when the battery levels reach low levels, and again at critical battery levels. For minimum-fuss recharging, Roytex offers wireless charging devices that can be installed in a convenient location for the collar wearer; for example, in the bed so the collar automatically recharges overnight.
